There is no shortage of wind in the Great Plains. Cool collection of windmills past and present. My elementary school in Spirit Lake, IA was one of the 1st powered by wind turbine, since 1993!

Be sure to take a picture with the 1.5 Megawatt Wind Driven Electric Turbine parts outside the museum donated by GE. They give you a great indication of how large the turbines are.

Check out the mural in the covered patio area of the museum's main building. The mural, by artist LaGina Fairbetter, is 34' tall by 172' long representing the past, present and future of the windmill.

Ask to see the mural room, it isn't an official part of the tour, but it is an awesome mural. It was painted by a Texas Tech professor of art. The room is also available to rent.
