A new metal walkway is currently being built spanning the cove. Because of health and safety to the public access to the castle itself maybe closed. Check in advance before arriving.

Great views. Only attempt if your fit. Young children will struggle.

Check available free events. We had an amazing live play by very good actors.

Check out the history of the building ("castle"), not the legend of King Arthur, far more interesting.... Unless it's for the kids....

If you're a Barclays Premier account holder you get free entry to all English Heritage sites, including this castle! We didn't realise until after but a very nice lady gave us a refund 👍

Check the opening times before making the trip - island part of the castle doesn't open until April.

One of the best kept secrets about the castle is the lagoons, which are excellent for swimming. You can even jump off the rocks into the water if you find a spot deep enough. It's pretty amazing!

Not for a faint of heart, the steps are pretty steep, avoid it if it's rainy & windy. But once u get on top all the huffs & puffs are worth it.

Make sure you check the times of the tide. Visit the rock in the middle of the beach with the sword in it.

Tintagel Castle is known as the site of Arthur's conception and birth, and in some traditions, death. It is also the site of King Mark's stronghold in the story of Tristan and Isolde.
